Welcoming the Minister, Paramount Chief of Nongowa chiefdom, PC Amara Bonya Vangahun thanked President Koroma for his appointment and on behalf of his colleagues registered their support and commitment to work with him in the interest of the eastern region.
In his statement, the Minister called on all and sundry to build a united force for the development of the eastern region. He said he is a son of the soil and someone that is developmentally oriented. He maintained that he is in the eastern region to represent the ideals and ideas of the President which aims at building a coalition of the diverse interests in the region for their mutual socio-economic development.
He called on all to obey the laws of the country, adding that lawlessness is never a panacea for social growth and economic development. The Minister however warned MDAs in very strong term that if they fail to deliver to the people he will “quarrel” with them, noting that public discontent with government is mostly caused by the non performance of MDAs. He categorically stated that corruption was the main reason for the non performance and inefficient performance of MDAs.
“I will not be here in this region and allow people to be discontent with government because of the attitude of any MDA. Instead it will be those individuals within such MDA who will attract the discontent of the people because I will not hesitate to name and shame them and expose their corrupt deals to the public eye.
He said the Agenda for Prosperity of President Koroma aims at bringing everyone on board the prosperity train and that no one will be allowed to disadvantage the other in this march.
