Magistrate Abdul Sheriff at the Siaka Stevens Street Magistrate Court No. 7, has committed a 37-year old man to stand trial at the High Court. It is alleged that the accused met a 12-year old girl for sexual purposes. The 12-year old alleged that on 9 December 2018, she went to sell water at the YSC in Freetown. She said she came in contact with the accused. The accused told her he wanted to buy all of her water but she should take the water to his house. She said she refused to go with him but when the accused insisted, she agreed. They boarded a taxi and went to the accused house in Goderich. The accused urged her to enter his room but she refused. The victim said she demanded for her money but he refused to pay her insisting that she enter his room. She said she then demanded that he take her back to where he took her from. A man later came to the scene and told her to leave the place at once. She met with some people who helped her return to her parents. They reported the matter to the police. During the preliminary investigation of the matter, three witnesses testified before the Magistrate. The Magistrate expressed satisfaction that the accused has a case to answer at the High Court. He committed the accused for trial and ordered that the accused be put on Le30 million bail.
