Prosecution witness, detective police constable 8226 Issa Kamara on Friday 29 January 2016 at the Freetown Magistrate Court No.2 at Siaka Stevens street, said there was sufficient evidence of bigamy  that warranted the charged of bigamy.
During cross examination, Defence Counsel B.S Kamara, representing the accused, Patrick Ansumana said the witness does not have sufficient evidence to have charged the matter for bigamy because the investigation was not thorough.
According to the witness, the matter was properly and thoroughly investigated and the complainant, Salima Ansumana even produced photograph of the alleged marriage and also marriage certificate between the accused and herself.
Defence Counsel told the court that photograph is not a sufficient evidence for the accused to be charged with bigamy.
While he continued his cross examination, Lawyer Kamara asked the witness on what grounds he charged the accused with domestic violence.
Responding, the witness said the accused failed to take up his domestic responsibilities since 2014.
The accused was charged with two counts, both bigamy contrary to section 57 of the offence against the Persons Act of 1861 and domestic violence contrary to section 2(1) of the Domestic Violence Act of 2007.
According to the particulars of offence before the court, the accused on the 1st September 2015 at No.4 Sander Street in Freetown married Melrose Ansumana during the life of his wife Salima Ansumana.
The matter was adjourned to the 4th February 2016.
