The Independent Police Complaints Board (IPCB) Chairman Mr Val Collier last weekend commenced its Focus Group Engagements (FGEs) at the National Youth Center in Waterloo.
Addressing the people, the Chairman said they are on this drive to educate the public on their mandate and to bring the Police closer to the people and to make sure that the many fracas that take place between civilians and the police are minimised.
“The aim of the FGE is to educate the public on the mandate, role and functions of the Board and to make sure that every Sierra Leonean understands why government created the IPCB.”
The FGE attracted 25 participants drawn from Civil Society, schools, Youth Organisations, Bike Riders Union, Motor Divers Union, Traders Union, Inter-Religious Council, CDIID, among others.
Mr Collier said yesterday Monday 18th July they will be in Tombo where they are expected to get more participants as that area is one that they need to make their presence felt.
On Wednesday 20th July they will be at Ferry Junction and the next day on Thursday 21st July they will be at the National Stadium, Main Bowl, where they will conclude their familiarization tour for the people of Western Area to understand their mandate and bring the Police closer to the people.
