Sixty young men and women in Kenema have recently graduated from a security training organized by an unarmed security outfit, Polaris Security Agency.
Addressing the the sixty young graduands and new recruits, the Kenema District Security Coordinator for the Office of National Security (ONS), Abdurahman Kargbo pointed out that man’s best security is himself, therefore all must live up to that.
He said the essence of setting up security agencies in the country is to compliment the effort of the regular security agencies such as the Sierra Leone Police and the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces, pointing out that personnel of these state security outfits cannot be everywhere in the country.
He maintained that the establishment of Polaris Security Agency in Kenema district is a plus for the security sector in the eastern region and called on all to take advantage of the situation by making use of the security agency personnel. He called on the personnel to adequately provide security in their areas of responsibility but must also intervene into other areas as and when the need arises to protect life and property.
He encouraged the new recruits to learn to talk to people they come in contact with respectfully and at the same time do their work with commitment and self esteem without failing the expectations of the masses.
In his statement the Operation Manager, John Benjamin alias OC Benjie said the agency started operation in the Western Area and extended to the North and now in the East with the target of helping the regular security forces. He called on the public to provide relevant information to security forces to aid them in their duty. He said Polaris Security Agency is not in the district to compete with other agencies but to join them all in securing the district.
