During the three days lock-down instituted by the Government in an effort to contain the spread of the deadly Ebola disease ravaging the country, less privileged residents in deprived communities at Murray Town were seriously frustrated.
The frustration over the issue of their daily bread was very alarming.
The situation however prompted two gentlemen who are also residents of Murray Town to intervene.
One Abdul Conteh and Bailor Barrie, commonly known as ‘Dino’ jointly mobilized their resources and bought food stuffs, including bags of rice cooking items among others which amounted to millions of Leones.
Big Yard, Mack Yard, Pentagon and Murray Town Wharfs were the benefitting communities of the two days humanitarian gesture.
In his statement on the second and final day of the donation at Big Yard, Abdul Conteh said the venture is not a show-off exercise or for any personal interest reason, but for disgruntled residents to fully comply to the three days stay-at-home with relief. “I just believe in the culture of helping one and other for our country to be a better place”, Abdul Conteh maintained.
Responding, the Murray Town section Chief, Pa Adekalie Thonkla expressed delight and gratitude to the philanthropists, as he said they are proud because the gesture which he described as life-saving gifts is from their sons.
The Chief rained blessings on the donors in exhibition of his appreciation on behalf of the community.
The distribution of the items climaxed the event as beneficiaries joyfully expressed their appreciation.
