Sierra Leone News: OFL launches documentary on women’s health
The Policy Adviser in the Office of the First Lady, Sam Bangura, has launched a documentary which assures women of better health services when the visit hospitals, health centers or clinics to seek healthcare services. The launching took place on Wednesday during the commemoration of the 5th Anniversary of the Campaign for the Reduction of Maternal Mortality in Africa (CARMMA) at the Princess Christian Maternity Hospital (PCMH) – the main maternal referral hospital in the country. The documentary is sponsored by Ipas, an International Non- Governmental Organisation working on women reproductive health and right issues. It brought to light the odds women and young girls face in terms of accessing health care services and facilities. The documentary which will be aired on Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) television is aimed at encouraging women and young girls to always go to health centers to get quality healthcare treatment and help to eliminate unsafe abortions- one of the contributing factors for the country’s high maternal mortality rate.By Abibatu Kamara ThursdayMarch 26, 2015
