National Organisation for Women Sierra Leone (NOW-SL) in collaboration with other women’s networks on Thursday engaged female paramount chiefs (PCs) and women in leadership positions at community and governance levels on the localisation strategy of UNSCRs 1325 resolution.
Speaking on the motive of the consultative workshop at the British Council hall, Madam Haja Mariama Fofana said the brainstorming meeting is to share information and develop strategies to enable women to access and participate at leadership positions in chiefdom governance system.
Madam Nana Pratt, coordinator NOW-SL and facilitator outlined the objective of the interactive dialogue stating that the mobilisation of the various female PCs and women’s leaders from the regions is to share experience and dialogue with participants in contributing ways towards the recognition of the need for increased women’s representation at all level in governance.
Madam Pratt further stated that such interactive session is also geared towards identifying factors that hinder full participation of women in decision-making positions particularly in the northern and other regions and develop policy levels towards full localisation and full implementation of the said resolution in Sierra Leone.
