A press release from the Government of Sierra Leone yesterday announced the banning of motorcycle services across the country with immediate effect starting yesterday.
The press release also announced the banning of all night clubs, cinemas and video centres with immediate effect. The release also lashed at what it referred to as “mushroom hospitals and clinics” to close down their operations with the same effect. It stated that the Ministry of Health and Sanitation will publish the names of all such mushroom hospitals and clinics operating in the country.
The release went on to state that anyone who dies of Ebola should be buried in the places such deaths occurred and should be reported to the Ministry of Health and Sanitation for necessary clearance and the issuance of a death certificate before the burial is performed.
The Presidential Task Force release also announced the automatic membership of donor partners in the Task Force. The police have been called on to police the streets of all towns and cities on a regular basis at night to avert robbery.
All of these actions have been made possible pursuant to Section 29(5) of the Constitution of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Act No. 6 of 1991.
