At about 4:00 a.m. on 3 April 2017, at Kissy Brook in Freetown, Yelie Sama, allegedly stabbed her husband, Alhaji Mustapha Sama. Yealie and Sama got married on 5 March 2017 at Kissy Brook, in Freetown, just one month previous. Yealie was arrested on 10 April 2017 and after thorough investigations she was charged with murder.
Police alleged the accused and her husband had a bitter argument. Each spouse called the other names and voices were raised. The accused used a kitchen knife to stab her husband to death.
Testifying during one of the proceedings, Mankailu Sesay, the first prosecution witness said the accused stabbed her deceased husband with two knives after a bitter argument.
“After I overheard the argument between the accused and the victim, I then decided to find out what the matter was. When I suddenly discovered the accused wiping off blood from her hands and with two knives besides her,” Sesay said. The witness, Mankailu, said he later discovered the deceased in a pool of blood in one of the corners in the house.
After three prosecution witnesses, Magistrate Binneh Kamara has committed the matter to the High Court.
The accused had no legal representation in Court.
