Richard Maurie Lengor on Friday 12 October 2018 at Wellington alleged sexually abused a 17 year-old JSS1 pupil. He was arrested 4 February 2019 and charged with Sexual Penetration contrary to Section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act of 2012. The 17-year-old victim appeared before Magistrate Abdul Sheriff at the Siaka Stevens Street Magistrate Court No.2, where she narrated her experience. During her testimony she identified the accused as someone she knows that lives in the same neighborhood. She said on that day her aunt sent her to run errands. On her way home, she met Lengor, who convinced the 17-year-old to enter his room. The victim said Lengor had a sexual intercourse with her and then gave her Le2,000. The victim said her aunt became suspicious about her condition and confronted her. She told the Court that she refused to say anything. The next day the victim’s aunt sent her on another errand. The aunt followed the victim to Lengor’s apartment, where she said they had sex. The aunt then barged in on them and met the victim and Lengor. The victim’s uncle then arrested the accused and took him to the Police Station. The victim said she provided a statement at the Police Station and was issued a medical report form for treatment and examination. The accused was granted bail on 19 February 2019. The matter has been adjourned to 28 February 2019 and the accused remains on bail.
