As the political turmoil in the National Democratic Alliance Party (NDA) continues to rise, an investigation committee set-up by the rank and file of the party has suspended their 2012 flag-bearer, Alhaji Mohamed Wurie Musidal Jalloh and two other party executive members for allegedly embezzling $38,000 (Le173, 664,000) from the party’s bank account.
In a press conference organized on Friday at NDA’s Headquarters, it was revealed that findings from the 14-man committee, which setting up was facilitated by the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC) has it that the party’s constitution was allegedly gravely infringed upon by the former flagbearer, aided by Mohamed S. Jalloh; Secretary-General and the Financial Secretary; Abdul Razack Bah, in setting up “fraudulent plans” to squander the $38,000 provided as an aid to the party by Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan.
It was noted that the investigation allegedly proved that the opening of the account and the disbursement of the money donated to the party was not authorized by the National Executive of the party; and that the financial report submitted to the committee by the Secretary-General was flawed because it was not supported by any receipt.
The committee also noted that asset report is yet to be proved as authentic, until the committee is able to undertake its intended national tour to inspect all listed party’s assets that the Secretary-General submitted to the committee.
Consequent of these among many other alleged anomalies that had bedeviled the party, allegedly perpetrated by the three political figures, the committee has therefore suspended them from holding any responsible positions therein.
Additionally, the committee has given a ninety-day ultimatum for the return of the money, and that suspended individuals should surrender all party properties in their possession to the secretariat ahead of the delegates’ conference slated for 29-30th August, 2014 in Makeni.
