National Social Security Insurance Trust (NASSIT) Acting Director-General Joseph Mans has commended the Presidential Task Force for their determination in fighting the Ebola virus.
He said since the Task Force was formed, the awareness has risen and the containment has become effective.
The Director-General said Sierra Leoneans should listen to the health workers for more education in preventing the virus. He said the government has done so much and we the people should complement their effort by making sacrifices and adhering to the precautions the health workers have put forward.
“We need to take this fight very seriously, if we have to contain this disease. The health workers are doing their part and we also should do ours. I have to commend the media also for their continued effort to help pass on the right information to the public.”
Talking about the prevention, Mans said the basic education of prevention has been done within his institution and the Human Resource department of NASSIT is continuing the sensitization with their offices. He said if all offices continue with the awareness program within, it will go a long way to help in containing the virus.
He urged health workers not to relent and appealled to all to continue their work, as he believes government will continue to capacitate them for the battle. He said as they are in the frontline they should be commended and be appreciated by all for the wonderful job they are doing.
The Director-General averred that ‘the earlier we can win the war on Ebola, the better it will be for the people and the country, because the economic situation presently is not encouraging as the virus is taking its toll on the government and people.
Joseph Mans said NASSIT have already donated Le100 million to the President in the fight against the deadly virus and they are monitoring the situation for further thoughts.
