As the High Court commenced the murder trial of Alhaji Mustapha Sama, police witness, Ibrahim Bangura, tendered evidence of two knives and a curtain before the Court on Tuesday 21 January 2019. The accused voluntary caution statement has also been tendered in Court. According to the State, in the night hours of 3 April 2017, at Moiba in the eastern part of Freetown, a woman named Yealie Sama allegedly killed her husband Alhaji Mustapha Sama. She was arrested and charged with the offence of Murder contrary to the Offences against a Person’s Act. According to the Police, the accused used the two knives to allegedly murder her husband. The first prosecution witness, Mohamed Sesay, told the Court that he was in his room when he heard shouting from the deceased man. The witness said the door to the entrance of the deceased apartment was open and he saw the accused naked. The accused was using the curtain to wipe blood from her hands. The witness went on to say that he saw two knives in the deceased room and blood traces from inside the room coming out. Sesay further explained that he followed the trail of blood until he came to where the deceased was lying. He further explained that he requested for someone to accompany him to the police station where he reported the matter. The police on their arrival at the scene took away the corpse and arrested the accused. The matter was adjourned to 28 January 2019.
