Magistrate Mark Ngegba of the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 2 has committed the alleged murder case involving Ibrahim Mansaray and Bashiru Mahoi to the High Court of Sierra Leone for further trial. According to the Police between 1-31 August 2018 at Lower Pipeline, Smart Farm, the first accused Ibrahim Mansaray murdered Massah Kaikai, a 40-year-old American citizen born of Sierra Leonean parents. It was also alleged that the first accused buried the body of the victim in a place other than a cemetery and stole properties worth over Le12 million from the residence of the victim, which he handed over to the second accused, Bashiru Mahoi. They were charged with murder, burying a human body in a place other than a cemetery and conspiracy. Prior to the committal of the matter by Magistrate Negba, the first accused was cross examined by Adrian Fisher, lawyer for the State on the complain he made to the office of the Ombudsman that he was beaten and put under gunpoint for him to answer to the allegation of murder.
Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.
The first accused, who was not represented by a Solicitor, denied most of what he had earlier said to the police and what the witnesses had also told the Court. The accused told the Court that he knows Massah Kaikai is not dead because the last time he had cause to see her there was nothing wrong with her. After the matter was committed to the High Court, the second accused Bashiru Mahoi was granted bail, while the first accused was remanded at the male Correctional Centre, until the matter comes up at the High Court.
