Sierra Leone News: Man imprisoned for house breaking, robbery

Lansana Jawara has been denied bail by the presiding Magistrate Binneh Kamara of Court No.1, for allegedly robbing Fatmata Koroma and breaking into the house of Mohamed Mansaray and stealing properties.
The accused denied both allegations on his first appearance before the Magistrate on 25 April 2017.
On the first charge sheet, the accused is charged with Robbery with Violence, Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm contrary to Section 47 of the Offences against the Persons Act 1861.
Police alleged that on the 15 April 2017, at Wellington Street, Freetown, the accused robbed Fatmata Koroma of her phone worth Le800,000 and at the same time harmed her.
Police also stated that on the same date and time the accused assaulted the victim in a manner occasioning her actual bodily harm.
On the other charge sheet, the accused is charged with Conspiracy to Commit a Felony contrary to law and House Breaking and Larceny contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
Police said the accused, Jawara on the 19th February, 2017 at 42 Lightfoot Boston Street conspired together with other persons unknown to commit House Breaking and Larceny.
Police also stated that the accused on the same date and address with intent to steal broke and entered in to the house of Mohamed and stole one black coloured I-phone valued Le1,500,000, one DVD player lap top valued Le500,000 and one Versace wrist watch valued Le50,000 all to the total value of Le 2.050,000 property of Mohamed Mansaray.
The matter was adjourned to the 4th May, 2017 for the victims to testify.
