The cutlass which was allegedly used to murder the deceased, Saidu Bangura at the Suffizain Guest House in Lungi, where the incident took place was owned and taken into the room by the deceased himself, alleged murderer, Fatmata Moijueh Tucker told the court.
In continuation of her testimony on several adjournment dates, accused said on the day of the incident, when they (herself, deceased and his friend) arrived at the Guest House, the deceased went in and later came back, informing her that he had booked a room for both of them upstairs and a room down stairs for his friend.
The accused said she entered the room with a hand bag containing Le7.5 million, one million Leones open cheque, three mobile phones, a pant and a pad, adding that the deceased was handling a bag and black plastic.
She explained that while there were in the room, the deceased asked her to accompany him to a night club. “I replied that I am not going with you because I am a stranger in Lungi,” adding that the deceased then left for the night club with his friend.
After 2 am, accused continue, the deceased came back drunk, asking me for sex “but I refused.”
“He forced me but I still refused, so he drew me and held my hand and neck and removed a dagger and threatened me but I still refused. He then used the dagger and cut me on my left wrist. We were in that struggle when the Chinese light went off,” she explained.
Accused noted, “Not too long after, my phone rang. The light of my phone helped me to see the deceased taking off a knife and a cutlass. I then shouted ‘you want to kill me’ and the accused replied I just want sex because I have to travel in the morning.”
She furthered that while they were on the struggle, “the accused pushed me on the bed and hit me with the cutlass on my stomach and I started bleeding. I in turn pushed him and he fell on the cutlass. He then shouted for help but I was in pain. By the time I managed to point my phone on him, I saw him bleeding.”
Among other things, the accused said she later noticed that Saidu was dead.
She said she was taken to the hospital, adding that the police went there demanding that she should follow them to the police station, stating that the nurse told them that “I am on drip and that they should wait the following day,” saying that they refused and they asked the nurse to disconnect the drip and she was taken to the Lungi Police Station.
At the station, she explained “my head was turning, weak and feeling pain but yet still the police were pressuring me to give statement. I told them am not feeling good and that they should give me time, but they refused, so I started explaining all sorts of non-sense, which I cannot recall now because I was under pressure.”
Questioned by his lawyer, I.P Mammie whether she signed any statement, accused said she could not recall, adding that when she was brought to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Freetown, she did not make any statement rather “I saw Sergeant Kabba coping the unconscious statement I made in lungi to their own file.”
The matter was adjourned to the 1st December 2015.
