Sierra Leone News: Liberian Police arrest suspected Sierra Leonean car thief

The Liberian Joint Security office at the Bo Waterside port of entry have arrested and confiscated a Mercedes Benz from a suspected cross-border, Sierra Leonean auto thief. The Commander of the Joint Security at Bo Waterside, Major Saxon Tambo, said the suspect is a Sierra Leonean and was arrested following a tip-off from their Sierra Leonean counterparts. “We got the description of the Mercedes-Benz including the colour. When he entered it was exact, so we say it was a well accomplished tracking,” he explained. According to Commander Tambo, the suspect has since been forwarded to the Tienii Magisterial Court for trial.

Major Tambo who refused to name the suspect due to security reasons, said the stolen vehicle is currently impounded at the headquarters of the Joint Security detail of Bo Waterside in Tewor District, Grand Cape Mount County, Liberia. The Grand Cape Mount County Joint Security boss said this is not the first time they have been confronted with such a situation, noting that in most instances, they are called by vehicle owners from Monrovia and other parts of the country for their missing vehicles which they track at the crossing point.
