
The Minister of Agriculture Forestry and Food Security, Monty Jones, has dished out Le80 million to farmer groups in Kailahun and Kenema.
The ceremony took place at Chines farm along Wahman Abu Road in Kenema where hundreds of farmers gathered. One farmer group from Kailahun and three in Kenema District each received Le20 million.
As the Minister handed out the cheques, he noted there has been a 10% increase in production and hopes it will double this year. He said the Ministry will continue providing seeds, fertilizer and other support to farmers across the nation and encouraged all to continue practicing commercial farming.
He commended the National Commissioner for Youth in the east, Kongo Sama, for his collaboration with MAFFS in ensuring that youths are highly engaged in agriculture.
