With a rosy welcome from all works of life, the locals of the Western rural district on Sunday heartily ushered in the Attorney General, Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara and the Sierra Leone Legal Aid Board (LAB) team.
Presenting the Attorney General and the visit of the LAB at the Med Porsh complex, Waterloo, Madam Fatmata Claire Carlton Hanciles told the over crowded gathering that the establishment of the LAB is a collective effort of both the AG and the LAB through the wisdom of President Koroma to bring justice to all and sundry irrespective of an individual social status.
Madam Hanciles while deliberating on the core initiatives of the LAB in aiding the administration of justice especially to the less privileged members of the society encouraged the gathering not to take the law into their hands and to help install good virtues in the children which according to her is a contributing factor to uphold national peace and security.
In her statement, Madam Hanciles outlined some of the issues that the board oversees stating family conflicts, property conflicts and domestic violence pointing out the number of people the LAB has helped released from prison.
Celebrating the intense intervention of Mr Joseph Fitzerald Kamara for facilitating the release of over 300 inmates, Madam Hanciles educated the gathering on how to resolve minor conflicts amicably without any court intrusion and the role of the community to hence sustainable peace and national development.
In melodious African tone of music and well patterned drum beating, as group of elderly women staged in Mr JF Kamara, who was smartly dressed in sky-blue Africana attire threw beautiful smiles at the colourful gathering.
While highlighting the development strides initiated by the President, Mr JF Kamara registered his commitment to continue the relentless effort in working for development in Sierra Leone.
Mr JF Kamara further re-echoed the importance of administering justice for all members of society pointing out education as a springboard in achieving development.
Applauding the effort of the Attorney General and the LAB team, councillors, chairman and various representatives from different sector within the western rural district expressed their delights over such intervention they described as bring the government closer to the grassroots.
