Thousands of youths in Port Loko on Saturday 20 May 2017 painted the streets of Port Loko red as they demanded from the ruling All Peoples Congress (APC) to give them Kelfala Marrah as their 2018 Presidential candidate.
It was a complete surprise to see thousands of youths in their famous red and white T-shirts with inscriptions…’ Marrah the beacon of hope, in Kelfala Marrah we trust, our new hope, APC gives us Marrah’ among others in a District were there are more than three other people interested in leading the APC.
The jogging exercise was dominated by first time voters who were shouting that their hopes are with Marrah as a youthful leader with passion and love for young people.
With their casual dress they moved around Port Loko singing and dancing, the youth maintained they will not sell their votes to another but will cast it for someone they trust.
Speaking to some of the people who accompanied the youths during the jogging exercise, Osman Conteh, commonly known as ‘acknowledgement’, disclosed that he is supporting him as the hope of the nation.
He maintained that he is not supporting Marrah because of money but for trust and discipline, explaining that he never set eyes on Marrah neither does he know him but believes in him and his work as evident on his previous positions.
Mabinty Conteh, a first time voter, stated that despite the fact that there are other people in Port Loko that are interested in the leadership of APC, her love and trust are in Kelfala Marrah because of his past leadership records.
However majority of the youths that took part in the exercise confessed they are yet to set eyes of the man they are supporting and their message to him is for him to pay a visit to them so that they can be rest assured of his words as their true leader.
