Nurses at the Chinese hospital at Jui have commended the 18th Chinese medical team that has been working in the hospital for about a year now for their exemplary work.
The nurses said, for the past 11 months they have learned a lot and they have developed so much confidence in the medical field because of the Chinese doctors and nurses. The Chinese have been very friendly in teaching nurses new skills and giving them confidence to work.
Salifu Osman Kamara, a Community Health Nurse (CHN), said since 2012 he has been working in the Jui hospital and he has worked with different Chinese medical teams. But he said this team has been the best so far, because of the respect and confidence they have in us.
“I am working with Dr. Ye Ke, and he has been teaching me so many things in medicine. He is a surgeon who has a wealth of experience. We have done major operations like breast cancer removal and lump on the neck of a man. These were major operations done by Dr. Ye and all of them were successful.”
Salifu said the women are doing fine after they have undergone chemotherapy. He said operations like thyroid, cancer, lumps, skin, head are all done by Dr Ye.
“He always organises classes for us on Tuesdays in the evening after work where he will give us lectures on how to treat patients, assess them and administer treatments.”
Memuna Kuyateh, who also works with Dr. Ye said she has learned a lot from him and the other doctors. “One important thing about this 18th Chinese medical team is that they can communicate with us very well, as their English is good.”
Memuna said they are looking forward to the next team coming because they have told them that they are coming with most of the machines and equipment that are now missing in the hospital. She said she hopes the 19th medical team will be as good as this team.
The Chinese Economic Counsellor, Mr. Shen has confirmed that his government will definitely equip the hospital with modern machines and other equipment that are needed to help make the hospital the best in the country.
He said the 19th Chinese medical team coming in July will come with new machines for the Hospital.
