Sierra Leone News: IPAM Student commits suicide

A man believed to be in his 20s, Daniel James, has on Thursday 11th September 2014 committed suicide by hanging himself to a pear tree in Kenema city. Daniel had beaten his wife Nyama Jalloh to coma and thought she had died and out of fear he hung himself to avoid punishment for his action. Mathew Rogers the woman said he heard Nyama crying and when he came out he saw her nose running blood and her head was also covered in thick blood due to a deep cut at the back of her head. He explained that Daniel stays in Bo working in a supermarket but will visit his wife with whom he has a-nine month old baby have from time to time. He did not explain what could have gone amiss between the two. Mr. Rogers said when he saw the blood on Nyama’s head he called out to neighbours for help and that at that material time, Daniel, was nowhere to be found. “We were only alerted some hours later that a man was hanging dead to a tree, three houses from where the incident had taken place,” Mr. Rogers explained, adding that when they went to see who it was, it came out that it was Daniel, already dead. Daniel James was born at Koilu village in the Moyamba district and holds a National Diploma from the Institute Public Administration and Management (IPAM). By Saffa Moriba Friday September 12, 2014
