
The former Minister of Finance and Economic Development and a flag-bearer contestant for the ruling All People Congress (APC), Dr. Kelfala Marah told students at Limkokwing University to enter careers that are innovative.
Marah was speaking on the topic, “Developing career paths in a fragile state”, on Wednesday 23 August 2017.
Marah revealed that the country has lots of potential areas to invest, which can be tapped by innovations and in line with present day job markets. He said there are no boundaries in the world in terms of acquiring knowledge.
Marah advised students not to follow friends but rather ensure they are well informed of the career field. People need to be mindful of their strengths and limitations.
He called on students to always work with people who are focused because if they chose the wrong people their career will definitely be sad. He said the best in human career path selection is ones sense of commitment and discipline. Whenever a person is half measure it is difficult for that individual to succeed in life.
He therefore pleaded with the university authorities to establish a career consulting online project to provides enabling environment to help students on key issues and can be managed by successful professionals to counsel students online. He said they can also be establish a department on career counseling because according to him, to become what you really want to achieve, you need to set your eyes on the prize and don’t take it off.
