Former Secretary-General of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Sulaiman Banja Tejan-Sie has said that the SLPP will make it in the upcoming elections.
In a confident mood, the lawyer said the present state of affairs within the Party is no strange thing, as it happened years back between the late M.S Mustapha and the late Jusu Sheriff. But the impasse was settled amicably.
“Going to the court is not the best option to seek redress for intra party disputes,” he said. “The PPRC is the body to seek redress, as it encourages open dialogue”.
He added that SLPP runs through his blood, noting that his family line believes in the ideals of the Party, which he says practices true democracy.
On his recent resignation as Secretary-General of the Party, after a prolonged suspension, he replied, “Life is not a bed of roses. We go through tough times, but there is sunshine after the rain. I have had my experience and it has made me stronger in politics”.
He continued that before 2018, the intra-party ramblings will be settled. He noted that the Party is a united family that believes in diversity, political tolerance and unity, and no selected few will intimidate the majority for personal gains.
Tejan-Sie called on all aggrieved parties within the Party to see reason and settle all differences. 2018 is a time for change for the revival of democracy to save the masses from further economic strangulation, and other forms of inhumane consideration.
