Sierra Leone News: Husband and wife docked for sexual offence

Two accused persons Alhaji Sankoh and Isatu Sankoh of Ngelehun village Nongowa chiefdom have made their first appearance in the Magistrate court in Kenema before the presiding magistrate Alhaji Sulaiman Koroma on two count charges of sexual offences.
Count one conspiracy to commit a felony contrary to law. Particulars of offence state that you Isatu Sankoh and Alieu Sankoh on Saturday 4th June 2016 at Ngelehun village, Nongowa chiefdom Kenema judicial district in the eastern province of the republic of Sierra Leone conspired together and with other persons unknown to commit a felony to wit sexual penetration.
Count two sexual penetration contrary to section 19 of the sexual offences Act no. 12 of 2012.
The particulars state that Alieu Sankoh was engaged in an act of sexual penetration with a girl under the age of 18 to wit 16 years.
The prosecution explained that the aunt of the girl saw some blood stains on the cloths of the victim, she took her to the bondo bush where the societal bondo head did her examination and realized that the victim has been tampered with sexually. The matter was then reported to the Mano junction police post and subsequently transferred to the Family Support Unit of the Kenema police station.
The matter is being prosecuted by sergeant 4938 Lawundeh Thomas of the Legal and Justice Support department of the Kenema police division. The matter is adjourned to 21st June 2016.
