On 12 May 2017, in Freetown, a car mechanic, Ibrahim Shar who was 18-years old then, wounded Alhaji Sesay with intent to murder. He was arrested and charged with ‘Wounding with Intent to Murder Contrary to section 18 of the Offences against a Person’s Act.
Following preliminary investigations at the Magistrate Court, he was committed for trial before Justice Sengu Koroma at the Siaka Stevens Street High Court in Freetown.
After a witness testified against the accused, his defence counsel on Monday 2 July 2018 informed the court the accused who had earlier pleaded not guilty to the offence would like to change his plea. The charged was put to him and he pleaded guilty to Wounding.
Justice Sengu Koroma said he will adjourn the matter to next Monday 9 June 2018 for sentencing. Ibrahim Shar was sent back on remand at the Correctional Centre in Freetown.
