The High Court of Sierra Leone is yet to determine the fate of former Public Education Officer of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Finda Bangura, who allegedly killed her husband Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Hassan Samuel Bangura, five years ago.
According to the police, the accused stabbed her husband with a knife during a fight in May 2012.
The case went through a preliminary investigation at the Magistrate Court in Freetown and was committed for trial before Justice Margai of the High Court. The matter was then transferred to Justice Alusine Sesay for a retrial in 2014.
It is three years since the matter was transferred for retrial. The Judge had earlier put the accused on bail after several warnings from the prosecution and entreaties to discharge the matter.
On Friday 20 October 2017, Justice Sesay echoed his concern on the negligence of prosecution witnesses to testify. He said, since 2014, no witness has come forward to testify in the matter. The accused, Bangura, is still on bail. The matter was adjourned to 6 November 2017.
