Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Alie Kabba will serve as Chair for the meetings on the Ministerial Committee on African Candidatures in the International system and also Chair the Peace and Security Council meeting at the level of Foreign Ministers ahead of the 31st Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union.
The 31st Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) will take place from 25th June to 2nd July 2018, under the theme “Winning the Fight against Corruption: A Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformation”. The Summit will be held in Nouakchott in Mauritania.
The delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation led by Alie Kabba will participate in various sessions including: the 36 Ordinary session of the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC); the 33 Ordinary Session of the Executive Council (Foreign Ministers meeting); and other pre-meetings.
President Bio will join 54 Heads of State and Government to mark the 31st Ordinary session of the Assembly of the AU 1st and 2nd July 2018. It is also expected that President Bio will for the first time Chair the meeting of the Committee of Ten (10) on the UN Security Council Reforms and the meeting of the Peace and Security Council (PSC) at the level of Heads of State and Government on the 30 June 2018.
The Chair of the AU and the President of Rwanda Paul Kagame, is expected to deliver the official statement for the declaration of the opening of this year’s session.
Members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International delegation include; the Director General, Paul Minah; Director for Multilateral and International Division, Franklyn Fawundu; and the Acting Director for Africa Division, Juliana Sia Hawa Fallah.
