Emmanuel Kaikai, accused of obtaining money under false pretence, on Friday, 5th January 2016 pleaded guilty to the accusation in the Magistrate Court No.1 presided over by Magistrate Abou Bhakarr Binneh Kamara in Freetown.
Magistrate Binneh Kamara asked the accused whether he is guilty of the charge by the police and the accused responded by admitting to the charge as stated by the police.
The accused had no legal representation in court when he pleaded guilty to the one count charge of obtaining money by false pretence contrary to Section 13(2) of the Debtor Act of 1869.
The Prosecuting Officer Sergeant 8715 Isatu Bangura informed the court that the complainant, Marie Bangura was absent.
According to the particulars of offence, Emmanuel Kaikai between 1st to the 21st January 2016 at No.66 Ascension Town, Freetown incurring a debt to Marie Bangura the of sum of five hundred thousand Leones (Le 500, 000) through false pretence.
Magistrate Binneh Kamara refused to grant the accused bail and ordered that he be remanded at the Pademba Road Correctional Centre in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to 11th February 2016 for sentencing.
