fly saloneFly Salone’s first flight to Freetown leaves London tonight and lands in Lungi International Airport tomorrow morning.  The Boeing 757-200 is scheduled to take off at Gatwick Airport at 10pm today and expected to land in Lungi at 5am tomorrow, according to Karl Travel Agency.
Karl Travel Agency is the sales agent for Fly Salone.
The airline fills a gap in the market created when British Airways suspended flights to and from Sierra Leone at the height of the Ebola outbreak. On November 7, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the end of the virus disease.
Fly Salone airlines will offer twice weekly non-stop services from London Gatwick to Lungi. Utilising Boeing 757 aircraft leased from Icelandair, this new carrier will serve Sierra Leone and will include a mix of European flight crews and senior cabin crew, and Sierra Leoneans.
Fly Salone airlines Ltd is a start-up flagship airline for Sierra Leone registered and operated from the UK.
The company has obtained the support of the Sierra Leonean government to operate at a twice weekly service from London Gatwick to Freetown. Fly Salone will develop and train Sierra Leonean ground staff in Freetown, the company stated on its website.
The airline provides a new comfortable and fast way to connect Sierra Leone with London. There is a 46 kg baggage allowance in the economy class and 69 kg in business. There is also enough leg space in the economy class. The 183 Seater aircraft has 16 seats in the business class and 156 economy seats.
The airline is the brainchild of Mr. Jay Saleh Chairman, the lead financier, Mr. Sam Sabrah, the Managing Director and Struan Johnston, aviation specialist responsible for strategy and operations.
Besides offering services tailored to the needs of Sierra Leoneans resident in the UK and ex-pat passengers, the airline will express the high aspirations of an emerging developing nation. Its vision is to operate safe, dependable services, comparable to airlines that operate in Europe and US airspace to become the airline that others in Africa wish to emulate, the company posted on its website.
Fly Salone is partnering with McPhillips as the UK sales agent. McPhillips has over 30 years of experience on the Sierra Leone  London route.
