A medical diagnostic report has revealed that Halimatu Koroma; a female reporter and presenter at Radio Imperi, FM 93.1, in Bonthe District, Southern Province, needs an immediate medical attention, after an x-ray investigation shows that her pelvis and left hip joint requires replacement.
Halimatu had been a victim of an accident that resulted to deformity of the left hip joint at a very young age. Over the years, she has been grappling with the situation until quite recently, when she started experiencing some unbearable joint paints within the region of her left femur. The uneasiness necessitated a medical diagnosis, which she herself had funded. Result of the examination reveals that there is a situation of post trauma because of deformity of the left hip joint. The medical report states that there is a dislocation of the left femoral head from the left acetabulum cranially with new joint formation. The left femoral head is now very small as a result of the fracture she suffered. Over the years, while strenuously walking, the condition has exacerbated and has shortened the lower extremity.
The report has therefore suggested that Halimatu requires a hip replacement as the best and appropriate treatment which could only be done outside Sierra Leone.
Medical bill suggested for such surgical procedure is USD 10,000, which neither Halimatu nor her parent could afford. As a hardworking staff, whose contribution to the growth of Radio Imperi has been unwavering, she is calling on well-meaning individuals to salvage her appalling health situation.
