It is alleged that on Sunday 26th October 2018, Sahr Fillie, former Principal of Freetown Teachers College, ran over his wife, Khadija Fillie, and killed her at Furniture Junction, Allen Town. Fillie was charged with murder, careless and inconsistent driving contrary to Section 101 of the Road Traffic Act No.5 of 2007, and causing death by dangerous driving contrary to Section 99(1) of the Road Traffic Act No. 5 of 2007. Testifying before Magistrate Santigie Bangura at the Freetown Magistrate Court No. 1 on Siaka Stevens Street in Freetown on Wednesday 23rd January 2019, Hawanatu Bangura said she recalled on a Sunday when she parked her vehicle near a shop at Furniture Junction. According to Bangura, the accused also parked his vehicle behind hers. Bangura added that she heard a very sharp voice under the vehicle of the accused. She said when she went close she noticed that the accused had hit the deceased with his vehicle. Bangura furthered that she shouted for help on behalf of the deceased. In her testimony, she said a few minutes later, two young boys showed up and lifted the deceased from a pool of blood. She said the accused, who had driven away, returned to the scene where he was arrested. Bangura said she followed up and learnt the woman had died. The matter was adjourned to the 28th January 2019.
