The Managing Director of Ecobank Sierra Leone Clements Odoo has been elected President of the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank’s Association.
His appointment came as a result of recent Police investigations into activities at the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank, which was managed by Crispin Deigh who by then was the President of the Commercial Bankers Association. The Police investigations saw the Central Bank Governor replacing Deigh in an unprecedented move said to be the first of such in the banking history of the Country. Deigh is presently standing trial at the High Courts.
The association is comprised of all 13 commercial banks in the country, with the aims and objectives of upholding banking principles so as to meet international banking standards. The newly elected President of the Commercial Banks Association has said that he will not encourage any banking institution that does not work in the interest of the country.
He called on the association’s membership to continue their work by supporting socio economic development and also fulfilling their corporate social responsibility.
