Several murder cases were on Wednesday 20 June 2018 adjourned due to the absenteeism of some defence counsels.
Among them is the matter between the state and five young men who allegedly killed one Tom Davies. The accused, Sinneh Sesay, Abu Bakarr Turay, Sheriff Gibrilla Sesay, Ibrahim Kanu and Alhaji Desmond Conteh allegedly killed Davies on 30 March 2017. They appeared before Justice Monfred Sesay to answer to two counts of Conspiracy and Murder contrary to the Offences against a Person’s Act.
Although a witness was present to testify against the accused, Justice Sesay said since the matter was a capital offence and because the law provides that the lawyer representing all accused be present, the court will not proceed.
The accused were remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to 27 June 2018.
