Sierra Leone News: Chinese University certifies African and Asian Journalists

African and Asian journalists of CAPC andSenior journalists from African and Asian countries have been awarded certificates after completing a comprehensive ten-month training on China Development Studies and Media Exchange. Twenty-seven journalists of the China Africa Press Centre (CAPC) and fifteen from China South Asia and South-East Asia Press Centre (CSASEAPC), received their certificates on Friday at the Renmin University of China (RUC) at a ceremony organized by the University’s School of Journalism and Communication.
The two Press Centres are operated by the China Public Diplomacy Association (CPDA), which is under the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The new participants, who are now Alumnus of RUC were lectured on areas like Chinese Politics, history, economy, environmental protection, people’s living situation, family planning, the traditional and social media development and other aspects concerning social science.
While congratulating journalists for their excellent performance, RUC’s Deputy Director of International Office, Li Zhenshi said the two Press Centres have deepened their journalistic knowledge on China’s development and its quest to enhance a common prosperity for all in the world.
“We are grateful to the Press Centres for the confidence they reposed on us to train journalists for the fourth year in a row,” Ms. Li said and assured that the University is willing to strengthen cooperation with the Media Exchange Programme and hopes to achieve greater results in the future.
Mr. Liu Yutong, Counsellor, Director of Division of Public Diplomacy at the Information Department in the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Ministry said he is happy that participants have gotten much knowledge about China’s development in various provinces visited as well as exchanges with key Government Departments, Agencies, and other development organizations.
“Your participation has been meaningful and I am happy that the past ten months have brought you great educative memories. You should see China as your second home because I am sure you must have made friends,” he said. He thanked participants for promoting the bilateral relations between China and their countries.
Professor Hu Baijing, Executive Dean of Scholl of Journalism and Communication at RUC commended the 22 Lecturers who successfully conducted lectures on various development topics, hoping that participants will take the good news about China’s development to their countries so that people will be well informed and more interests will be shown to join China in its development agenda.
Statements of thanks were made by CyprienKabunduKapuku on behalf of CAPC, and Mohammad ZamizAgadi for CSASEAPC. They commended the China Public Diplomacy Association, the two Press Centres and all those who supported the entire program. The event was witnessed by the two Centres Directors, Chen Zhe and Feng Lin of CAPC and CSASEAPC respectively.
