On June 5, 2018, the “China-Cypriot Women’s and Children’s Health Care Innovation Project” organized by the National Health and Sanitation Committee of China, Hunan Provincial Health Planning Commission and Hunan Provincial People’s Hospital have been launched in Sierra Leone. The advance team of experts and the 19th batch of China’s assistance to the Sierra Leone medical team used the time of the weekend to jointly launch the “Perception of Women and Children Project – Walking into Sierra Leone” communities.
On the day of the event, China’s nineteenth batch of assistance to the Sierra Leone medical team captain Professor Liang Lihui, Professor Xiong Bangwen and his deputy chief Huang Shu and the project team expert obstetrics and gynecology associates Huang Wei, Lin Lin’s nurse in charge to the rural Freetown project in Sierra Leone engaged in massive publicity to educate the people on health issues, they also introduced the project and pattern of implementation with regards to the China-Cyprus Women’s and Children’s Health Care Innovation Project. The key focus was to promote the local people in Sierra Leone’s awareness of the project through face-to-face publicity, so as to increase their participation and share.
The experts take photos with local people in during the publicity work in different communities in Sierra Leone. The advance group experts, Associate Professor Huang Wei of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department and the nurse manager of Pediatrics Lin Road explained in detail to the local people, especially the adult women, the specific time and main contents of the China Women’s and Children’s Health Care Innovation Project. The 19th batch of China’s assistance to the Sierra Leone medical team, Professor Xiong Bangwen, exchanged views with the local people on the scope of free clinics conducted by general surgery. Dr. Huang Fang, explained the time when the project was launched (June 5, 2018) and the ongoing screening work of the advance team’s experts, hoping that the majority of women and children in Sierra Leone will be registered at the China-Syria Friendship Hospital to benefit from the China- Syria Friendship.

On their tour, Professor Liang Lihui encountered a child with many years of eye disease, but unfortunately this trip did not prepare for such, that notwithstanding the captain Liang Lihui collected the patient’s eye disease photos and he returned to the hospital with the photos hoping that the patient would attend the project at the Sino-Saxon Friendship Hospital on June 7, 2018. The local people in Freetown, Sierra Leone expressed their gratitude to the Chinese government for the China-Syria Women and Children Health Care Innovation Project, especially the free clinics for women and children. The local people really felt the Chinese people’s concern and help for the people of Sierra Leone.
