Festus Mansaray, Alhaji Steven Bangura, Ibrahim Kalokoh and Alhaji Umaru Jalloh were accused of robbing and murdering Lieutenant General, Samuel Omar Williams at his Devil Hole residence in the Waterloo Rural district.
According to the State, on December 22, 2016, Festus Mansaray, Alhaji Steven Bangura, Ibrahim Kalokoh and Alhaji Umaru Jalloh, allegedly attacked the residence of retired Lieutenant General, Samuel Omar Williams, murdered him and robbed him of 2 iPhones, a Sierratel phone, Samsung Galaxy edge phone, Silver Mac Book PRO, one portfolio, one handbag, a gold bracelet and gold necklace worth Le56,355,000.
Prosecution witness, Abdulai Barrie testified before the Court that on the night of the incident prior to the killing he was home watching a movie together with a neighbour while the deceased was in his room.
At around midnight, Barrie told the Court that he instructed Mohamed Thoronka to close the main door to the house before going to bed. Around 2 to 3:00 a.m. “Mohamed Thoronka woke me up and informed me he heard noise, I checked for my phone but it was missing”. He said together with Thoronka they went to the living room and noticed that the “main door to the house and the deceased’s room was wide opened”. Barrie said he panicked and then called on Kabba, their neighbour. While he and Kabba were ascending the stairs they noticed bloody footprints and immediately rushed to the deceased’s room. “I entered the room and saw the deceased lying on the floor dead”.
After several adjournments and testimonies by prosecution witnesses, the said matter was committed to the High Court as the lower cost collected evidence against the accused.
The matter which was mentioned for the first in the High Court on Tuesday 3 July 2018 since its committal in 2017 did not proceed as the court was unable to assemble a twelve member jury to proceed with the matter.
The matter was adjourned again to next Tuesday. The accused remain in jail and have been represented by the Legal Aid Board.
