The National Delegates Conference of the All Peoples Congress (APC) has been postponed, according to the APC Secretary General, Alhaji Osman Yansaneh. The Conference was originally slated for 15 and 16 September.
This is the second time the convention dates have been changed. The first time if was the first week of September then it was pushed to mid month as they said the lower elections would not be finished on time. Now it has been pushed indefinitely.
Yansaneh said, “The National Advisory Council (NAC) decided to take the action because of the massive loss of lives that took place during the landslide and flood that took place on the 14 August 2017.
“President Koroma announced that we must mourn for a week until Tuesday 22 August. But we think that is not enough because of the many lives that have been lost as many of them are yet to be accounted for even after we have buried over 450. We will continue to mourn with the families and when the time comes we will announce the new date.”
The Secretary General said, “The convention will definitely be organized it when the dust has settled. The atmosphere is not conducive for jubilation during conventions.”
Talking to some members of the party, they said it is in place that NAC has postponed the convention as the country continues to mourn the loss of lives. The called on Sierra Leoneans to show remorse and help those that were affected and stop taking advantage of the situation. AT/23/8/17
