Sierra Leone News: Another Accolade for Sierra Rutile

Sierra Rutile has something to celebrate with again after winning the Local Content Policy award when Chamber of Commerce organised their award ceremony last Friday. Rutile has long since been on the top of pushing for excellence and quality. So winning such award I am sure is not a surprise to them. This is a company that has systematically been operating within the confines of the law and few weeks ago when they launched their Localization Plan. It was bound to attract positive comments and accolades, because it shows that under the leadership of John Sisay, the company is in safe hands. The Localization Plan is an accelerated staff progression process for high potential employees who are citizens of the Republic of Sierra Leone and have been formally assessed as having the capability to be rapidly developed as skilled technicians, supervisors and managers within the company. During the ceremony at British Council I remembered when the CEO John Sisay was giving his speech to the applause of the audience. He said that this edition of the Localization Plan is dedicated to looking at the past, present and future of the operations of Sierra Rutile. “Sierra Rutile has a long and productive history of finding, deploying and developing local talent.” This was a man who believed in the abilities of Sierra Leoneans just like his predecessors. He wanted Sierra Rutile to have the Sierra Leone looks. He wanted Sierra Rutile to be the best and he wanted Sierra Rutile to be viable in all areas. So when Chamber of Commerce decided to award a company for his Localization policy plan, they had no problem in choosing Sierra Rutile. Sierra Rutile has had challenges in the past and they have rise above those challenges to reach the stage they are now. The Localization Plan aims to ensure that they continue with this tradition which is intended to develop the skills needed by both Sierra Rutile and Sierra Leone to adequately support, manage and leverage its minerals sector. Mr Sisay said: “Our Localization Plan is the process through which we identify high potential Sierra Leonean men and women within Sierra Rutile and ensure they receive the training, development, work experience and mentoring necessary to accelerate their progress to the top of the organization,” John Sisay is one of the best managers in this country and he has the potential to rise to any level in the country. He has enough experience in managerial skills both nationally and internationally. He has won awards outside of Sierra Leone for his relentless effort to make Sierra Rutile a viable company. He has been on top of his game that is why Sierra Rutile continues to develop in every sphere. Sierra Rutile officials were very happy to collect the prize and they are determine to do more this year and beyond. The company has proved beyond all reasonable doubt that Sierra Leoneans has what it takes to manage a business with excellence and pride. I want to congratulate the company for its strides it has made to be successful. I hope they will continue to grow and win more laurels and make more profit.
