Magistrate Santigie Bangura, the presiding Magistrate at the Siaka Stevens Street Magistrate Court No.1 in Freetown has on Tuesday 19 June 2018 committed four alleged armed robbers for trial at the High Court.
It is alleged that the accused, Alusine Samura alias “Turin”, Mohamed Lamin Conteh alias “Boxer”, Mohamed Kargbo alias “Big Head” and Mohamed Bangura alias “Investor”, on 25 April 2017 at Kamayama robbed Gideon Tamba Fayia, Kalilu Conteh and Saio Kamara of different valuable items. The items which worth over Le14 million include television set, mobile phone, Sierratel Wi-Fi.
According to the police, the accused were armed with a pistol, as well as cutlasses when they attacked the victims. They were charged with the offences of Conspiracy, Robbery with Aggravation, Wounding with Intent, Wounding, Assault and Receiving Stolen Goods.
Prior to the committal of the matter, the Magistrate said he was convinced that the accused have a case to answer. He stated that the prosecution has produced sufficient evidence against the accused.
Magistrate Bangura did not grant the alleged robbers bail but sent them on remand at the Correctional Centre in Freetown.
