Sierra Leone News: Alleged larceny … Witness tendered 27 items

Sergeant 1516 Abu Conteh attached to the crime writes unit, at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Monday tendered twenty seven (27) items, to serve as evidence in the alleged larceny matter involving Yankay Koroma, Kandeh Kamara and Lamrana Jalloh.
Sergeant 1516 Conteh .A tendered those exhibits at the Freetown magistrate court No.1 in front of Magistrate Binneh Kamara.
According to the witness, his duties include to ensure the safe keeping of all exhibits brought into the office, relating to cases that have been reported and are under investigations.
He noted that “I have an inventory prepared and signed by me” and he furthered that on 1st February 2016, he was on duty at the CID head Quarter when detective police constable 11060 Bangura. A attached at breaking syndicate handed over to him twenty seven items in respect of this case.
Some of the items tendered in court are six white plates, two glass bowl, three small white cups, one brown statute to name but few.
After tendering those exhibits which were marked as K1-27, Police prosecutor inspector Bah made an application, noting that “My lord I want these exhibits to be snapped and returned to the owner and I made this application in pursuant of section 59 of the criminal procedure act”, which the Magistrate granted. The third accused Lamrana Jalloh is being represented by C.F Margai.
The accused were charged with one count of larceny in dwelling house contrary to section 13 (a) of the larceny act on 1916 by the police and according to the particular of offence that all of the accused between 24 October -7th January 2016 at No.38 Main Beach Road Aberdeen in Freetown entered and broke into the house of Jessie Watfa and stole one suit case valued at two million Leones, hair, small portable safe valued at one million five hundred, jack saw valued at two million Leones, plumbing materials valued at one million, five hundred thousand Leones, assorted jeans and cloths valued at ten million Leones and hosts of other items. The matter was adjourned to the 28 June 2016.
