As Muslims observe the Holy month of Ramadan with fasting and prayers, Airtel would be supplying 14 mosques’ nationwide with food items and plastic kettle (cooler) to help cushion the burden on those who can’t afford meal to break fast.
The sum total of the items to be distributed is approximately Le300m, revealed Airtel’s Usage and Retention Manager, Abibatu Unisa.
Abibatu Unisa explained that the company is always supporting its Muslim customers during the month of Ramadan.
She noted that the company acknowledged the fact that some people find it difficult to afford the basic meal needed to break fast, therefore it is but necessary to intervene to help “alleviate the suffering” of these people.
She explained that the supply is not limited to Freetown, noting that they would be traversing the length and breath of the country to supply 14 mosques with food items.
She also disclosed that as part of the Ramadan offer the company has also made provision for walk in customers, explaining “any customer who walks in to our outlet and buys a product would automatically be entitled to a raffle draw, with so many prizes to be won.”
Past Friday, Airtel started the presentation tour. Two mosques in Freetown received assorted food items, beverages and plastic kettles.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Jamaat, the head Imam of Majid Nabaya’s mosque at Regent, Shiek Alie Yansaneh thanked Airtel for remembering them in the Holy month and prayed that they blossom as a company.
He said the items are well appreciated and would be distributed for its intended purpose. Also, in Goderich, another mosque received Airtel’s Ramandan package.
Yesterday Airtel continued its Ramadan gift presentation by presenting food items and plastic kettle to Kroo Bay Central Mosque. Presenting the gifts Airtel’s Acting Marketing Manager, Mohamed Kuyateh explained that Airtel is a company that doesn’t discriminate, “we don’t pick and choose” he emphasized.
Kuyateh explained that the mosque’s that are given the food items are the ones in which people are in dire need for it. “This is our own iftar and we want to receive the blessings of the holy month of Ramadan.”
Chairman of the Mosque Edward Fullah thanked the Airtel delegation and prayed that the company continues to prosper. “We appreciate what you ‘ve done for us,” he emphasized.
Kroo Bay community chief and president of the mosque, Pa Alimamy Kargbo thanked Airtel for showing appreciation to its customers by giving back to them. He noted that the gift is a big gesture, noting that they would receive quadruple reward in the life hereafter.
