Magistrate Binneh Kamara of Siaka Stevens Street Magistrate Court No.1 in Freetown said on Tuesday that he will commit a case of wounding and assault to High Court after the testimony of the police investigator, a formal witness, today.
The matter involves Mark Conteh (1st accused), a bike rider and Mohamed Kamara (2nd accused) a pupil. It is alleged that both accused assaulted and wounded Alpha Bah a business man, on the 20th of July, at Upper Savage Square in the eastern part of Freetown.
The victim Alpha Bah while testifying in court on Tuesday, said, prior to the incident, the first accused threatened to stab and kill him. He added that after an argument between the two of them, the first accused then used a shovel to hit him.
“I wanted to fight with him when the second accused joined in the fight but some youths intervened and separated us”, he narrated. “I was explaining the issue to an elderly woman who came to enquire what was going on when the first and second accused approached me with broken bottles and stabbed me”, he went on.
The victim said he was stabbed on his right cheek and on his chest and that he sustained twelve stitches in all for both areas.
Meanwhile, both accused are on remand at the Pademba Road Male Correctional Centre in Freetown. They are being tried on three count charges ranging from ‘wounding with intent to doing grievous bodily harm’ to ‘assault occasioning actual bodily harm’ all contrary to the Offences against a Person’s Act of 1861.
