The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA), with support from Cross International in America, has donated a 40 foot container of assorted new clothing, a 40 foot container of Manna Pack fortified rice and soy blend and water bottles all worth over $80,000 USD for distribution to Ebola survivors in eight Districts nationwide.
The Director of ADRA, Mr. David Kabia, strongly warned beneficiaries, who received the goods not to sell the items cautioning that if they are seen in the markets for sale the shipments would cease and also clarified that money is not part of the package.
The beneficiary Districts are Tonkolili -168 survivors, Kono -81 survivors, Koinadugu -52 survivors, Bo -104 survivors, Pujehun -8 survivors, Kenema -220 survivors, Kailahun -231 survivors and Western Area Rural 328 survivors totaling 1,192 survivors.
The Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs provided the harmonized list of Ebola survivors to ADRA and supervised the distribution.
The Director of ADRA, Kabia, informed this medium on Tuesday 23rd May 2017 at the organization’s Waterloo office that John Bull, Director of CARITAS Sierra Leone linked his organization to Cross International in America enlightening that the terms of the agreement with Cross International is that when the relief items arrive in Sierra Leone, ADRA should pay for the clearing and transportation and continued that some of the beneficiary Districts have received their supplies.
The Director further revealed that his office is working with a Peace Corps Volunteer who will prepare the report of the entire exercise, the Presidential Delivery Team, Monitoring and Evaluation Officers in Local Councils, the Desk Officer for Ebola Survivors and Development Officer in the MSWGCA in addition to the Chairmen and Coordinators of Ebola Survivors who reach out to their members to collect the relief items.
