Bobson Frederick Sesay the accused was charged with eight counts including an alleged impersonation to be a paramount Chief of Tinidalay Chiefdom in Moyamba District by the police.
Testifying before Magistrate Albert Moody at the Freetown Magistrate court No.1 on Thursday the consultant for Sierra Leone opportunity for Business Action Chukwu Emeka Chikenzie said “he admitted to be a paramount chief while he was negotiating on behalf of the chiefdom”.
Giving a background of his organisation, he said they are working closely to support the government of Sierra Leone to strengthen the private sector and also to ensure all one hundred and forty nine chiefdom have solar energy.
The witness said that he recalled the 6th June 2016 and the date in question he received a mail from one Richard Rose from DFID to meet with paramount chief of Kigoma Ndemor the second of Taynidalay chiefdom.
According to the witness, the mail stated that, the paramount chief needs solar power for his hospital and requested for them to meet with the paramount chief for further clarification.
The consultant furthered that they sought an appointment with the accused and on 10th June 2016 at 9am they eventually met with the accused at their office in Spur Loop, where the accused gave a brief background about himself claiming to have studied medicine in Germany.
According to the witness that the accused said he came to contest the paramount chief election in 2007, which he won and return back to Germany to continue his studies. He noted that he finally came home in 2007 and took his throne as paramount chief.
He said the accused told him that, “in 2011 he had scholarship to study in Liverpool adding that sixty percent of the fund for the medical equipment for his hospital is from Liverpool and the forty percent is from him.”
The witness maintained, “the hospital is currently facing some electricity crisis and he needs some help as the solar panel in the hospital had been stolen according to the accused.”
The accused was asked to provide an economical profile and he later asked the witness how it should be done.
The witness said he was suspicious about the accused being a paramount chief as they have a list of the names of all the paramount chiefs but the name of the paramount chief in the chiefdom in question is Solognnie as opposed to Kingoma Ndemor but the contact of the paramount chief was not on the list.
He said he called a nearby chiefdom to access the number of the paramount chief, noting that by then his colleagues were already in Moyamba with the chief.
The witness said he had to inform the Assistant Inspector General of Police Al-Sheik Kamara who provided him with three officers.
The accused was arrested by the police when about to present the economical profile, and was charged with eight counts ranging from forgery, impersonation, altering false document and host of others. The matter was adjourned to Monday 25th July 2016.
