The Regional Coordinator East for the Attitudinal and Behavioural Change (ABC) secretariat Arnold Kaima has condemned the recent political violence that occurred in constituency 001 in Kailahun district.
Speaking to Press in Kenema Mr. Kaima stated that violence in politics has become a major concern to his secretariat and that they wanted the political parties to desist from any form of violence.
He said, ABC was successful in campaigning against violence in the 2012 election, adding that the Attitudinal and Behavioural Change secretariat referred to the incident that took place in Kenema with the SLPP, which led to the death of a citizen as lawlessness and indiscipline.
Arnold Kaima accused the PPRC regional office east of being negligent in its responsibilities, stating that the absence of PPRC to regulate the activities of the two political parties APC and SLPP in constituency 001 to certain extent led to the violence ahead of the bye election scheduled for 9th July 2016.
The ABC regional coordinator pointed out that they have made effort to engage the PPRC regional officer in order to see how best they could work with his office and the political parties, but the commission couldn’t listen to them.
He noted that ABC will continue to engage the necessary institutions to be proactive and carry out their mandate to the people of this country.
