Smart Mobile Company is in the process of restructuring and for the first time a mobile company has appointed a female Sierra Leonean, Ann Marie Davies-Cole as their new Acting Corporate Affairs Manager.
In a short interview with her, she said she was gratified to receive such position and believe it is her good work in the past that gave her such position. “I have been working very hard and I have never been satisfied until I get the required result.
Ann Marie said Smart started operations end of March in 2014. As soon as they started operations, they were dealt a big blow when the ebola struck and were unable to push all their plans in making the company more viable and effective.
“Now that the ebola is over, we have put all modalities in place to expand our coverage and very soon we will be received in Bo and Kenema before heading to the north.”
The acting Corporate Affairs Manager averred that their network is very reliable and of high quality and as they continue their expansion, subscribers will enjoy the facilities and quality they provide.
She said even when the ebola was ravaging the country, they never relented as they were putting modalities in place to expand and provide customers with the real quality they need to enjoy using Smart Mobile.
Mrs Davies-Cole said she is very optimistic that Smart mobile will soon reach the top as they have their targets to reach and surpass. She said they were the last in the country to start operations, but they will reach the top of the pinnacle because they have the capacity to arrive there.
She called on all their subscribers to continue to use their system and bring their friends and families onboard so that they can enjoy the quality of Smart mobile as they have the best network in the country.
“The restructuring of the entire office is ongoing as they want to make sure that they meet their demands to government and their corporate social responsibility. ‘Smart is here to stay and Smart is going to give you the best you want to make communication more reliable and easy.”
During the ebola, Smart Mobile supported Ebola survivors as part of its corporate social responsibility. Sometime last year, Smart Mobile was among the first responders attending to the basic needs of survivors by providing food items and clothing to Ebola survivors at Hastings and 34 Military hospitals.
To assist the Survivor Dream Project, Smart Mobile has donated 25 mobile phones and 25 Closed User Group lines.
Smart Mobile Sierra Leone (Intergroup Telecom LTD) is a subsidiary of Timeturns Holdings Limited which has Telecom Interests in Burundi, Tanzania, Uganda, Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Smart Mobile Sierra Leone commenced operations on the 28th of March 2014 and is the most recent milestone in the group’s expansion on the African continent.
The Survivor Dream Project targets 20 women from various disciplines of life. As a start, the focus is on nurses, students, widows and business women. The project hopes to reach many more women who are Ebola survivors in the near future.
