Five police officers two female and three males were on duty that night with Inspector Melvin as the senior personnel among them.
The five police officers have been suspended and are currently being interrogated at the Criminal Investigation Department at the Kenema police division. Some other police officers from Bo city were also called in to assist in the investigation.
There is no breakage of the cell, the padlock and keys to the cell could not be found.
Cell break is not common in this part of the country as police and prison officers are always alert to prevent such unfortunate situation.
The last jail break or escape in Kenema was the state prison in 2006 where inmate used a saw to cut the steel bars on the window and escaped.
