On 26 June 2018, Salieu Mansaray, Alhaji Kamara, Ibrahim Conteh, Sidique Kabba, Ishmael Bangura, Mohamed Lamin Sillah, Yusifu Kamara and Alhaji Abdulai Kamara were arrested along Rawdon Street at approximately 2:00 a.m. Police allege the group had no legal grounds to be out. They were charged with Loitering, contrary to Section 7 of the Public Order Act No. 46 of 1965 by the Sierra Leone Police.
On Thursday 28 June 2018, the accused appeared before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of the Freetown Magistrate Court No.1. They were being held in remand and were not represented by legal counsel.
The group pleaded guilty to the offence. The accused noted that they were not engaged in any criminal or dangerous acts.
According to Magistrate Bangura, “Since the accused have pleaded guilty to the offence charged by the police, the file is withdrawn for sentencing.” Magistrate Bangura remanded the accused to the Male Correctional Centre, and adjourned the matter to Friday 29 June 2018 for sentencing.
